I have a way this can work. At the frag swap in Nov you take a colony frag it up between however many people and then by the spring frag swap the competition is over.
Charge a small fee to participate to cover the initial cost of the colony.

I am using AI sol blues I tried almost everything with them and growth and color cannot beat MH or T5. My next step is to supplement leds with t5. I am convinced thatin order for an Led lit tank stand to stand a chance it would need an extremely well but fixture with all led spectrum possible

II have a 75 gal frag tank with led I set it up about 1 month ago on one side I have a Chinese led and the other a kessil 350w o gotta say I love the color and shimmer that come off the kessil as far as the sps color its ok so far I still love my radiums ,

Most normal halide systems will raise temp more than T5s or LEDs, though.

I have had metal halides on this tank 2x250 and it heats the tank way too much, it brings the tank temp up about 4 degrees.

I believe you 100% man. Halides are hot. The Aquatinics fixture is made to be right on top of the tank. It's different than normal fixtures. The fan is like a jet engine. Lol.
