Does anyone currently have the Herbie method running on thier tank? I understand thier aren't any noises from the return but do you still get the splashing waterfall sound coming over the overflow wall??

Like to see pics if possible, please

thanks

I have google too, but pictures don't account for personal experience and sound transmission.

I am specifically wondering about eliminating the waterfall sound coming over the overflow wall.

I'm using a herbie setup on my 120 with dual overflows. When tuned in right it is dead quiet. You can control how much noise you get from water falling into the overflow by how high you make you siphons/drains.

What Mike said, basically the backup drain should be at a higher height, the height of the water in the overflow isn't far below the notches on the overflow wall, so there won't be a splash sound.
And the return height shouldn't matter

Anthony I think you may be confusing some of the terminology. With a herbie setup you have a siphon that draws water from your overflow and is controlled by a gate valve and an emergency drain that is open to your sump but doesn't normally see any flow. The return brings the water from your sump back to your display. The number of siphons and emergency drains will depend on the holes you have available in your overflows.

Thanks, I understand, my main concern is the waterfall sound.
Thanks again
