Can any of you MH expert tell what type of bulb this is from the picture?
I know it's a 175 Watt 14K but what name brand?

that's something i always wondered. how can i tell the brand of the bulb?

You know something....you can't tell the name brand of that bulb. Why? Because this guy on another reefer website is selling a complete setup at a pretty good price. However, he bought those bulbs from home depot and is trying to pass them off as "real" reef bulbs. When asked for the name brand he says he can't remeber but the bulbs were really expensive. To make a long story short, he eventually put his foot in his mouth. That one thing I hate about the hobby, dishonesty. I'm not dishonest or out to rip anyone off, sorry for the vent but I nearly was suckered into this buy. :headache: But I would still like to know how can you tell the name brand of a bulb, this way we can all know if we're buying home depot bulbs. :splitspin

I think most of the time 14k and like bulbs are used only for aquaria and maybe for plants, most industurial bulbs are much warmer in temp, this is just an assumption.

most of your lamps have a logo on them allso look at the brass base it should be stamp with manufactor or code

I use Aqualine bulbs and they dont have anything but the wattage and colour temp. printed on them

Well the question would be, What does 14k mean? When a lightbulb say 14K, are all 14k the same spectrum?
