Dimond gobbie/sand sifter owners or past owners

I read somewhere that they sometimes bury corals on the sand bed?
If so like what a 3polop zoa frag? Or a full size Acan colony?
I was thinking of getting one to keep the gravle clean?
Are they not worth it? Will I kick myself for getting one?

I have two in my 120G they spit sand but have never covered any of my zoa frags or plate they some times spit some sand on top of them put never covered or destroyed anything..
I say get one..

i had one and it made my tank cloudy non stop i say don't get one, mine would take the sand in his mouth swim half way up the tank and then let it fall and get blown everywhere

The crushed coral will preclude you from keeping either of these 2 critters in your tank. They need a sand bed to thrive.

that looks like the coarse sand if im not mistaken. your better off with coarse sand imo anyway cause fine sand tends to float around and linger too much

I have one that i got from my brothers tank and it did make my tank cloudy a few seperate times but i think he has cleaned all of my gravel and makes dunes throught the tank and it does bury a few mushrooms here and there but its nothing dangerous , they love soft sand beds and are quite fun to watch, i once saw mine bite one of my hermit crabs and spit him out of his hole for being an intruder lol

What size does the bag say the sand is?

One other thing to keep in mind about the sand sifting star..it will eat all of the pods out of your sand bed. If you tank is not long established - it will likely starve to dead.

You can keep a sandbed clean if you are sure to stir a portion of it each week (or whenever you do your water changes). Not a good idea to stir it all at once and if clouds of crud come out of it..don't stir it up.

I love diamond gobies. They do a great job keeping the sandbed clean and they have great personality. They are jumpers tho, so make sure you have your tank covered

Sand everywhere when I had one. The water was actually cloudy with silt. One day, the water cleared. I didn't realize why until I saw that the diamond had jumped out of the tank.

The diamond goby is a work horse, just make sure your sand bed can recover from that eating machine.

i have a dymond goby and a two spot goby those are 2 of my fav fish and i always have milk white sand the dymond goby might cover small zoas frag but thats about it
