Fixing a leaking RO

One of the filter chambers on my RO sprung a leak in the plastic screw on cap where the tubing goes into it on the top. It is not the tubing but part of that plastic lid. I picked this up to try and fix it (silicone wouldn't hold) and it says safe for potable water. Do you think it would work and is safe?

What you need is Teflon tape, unscrew aply tape and screw it back,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thread_seal_tape

Is there an actual crack somewhere or is it just not sealing well at the thread?

Thanks Kathy, yes it is not where the tubing is but some sort of crack on that housing.
