i have a question also tho. its going to be me and my girlfriends first time at the swap also.

if we would like to bring coral to swap or sell is that okay? and do the vendors trade/sell? or just sell, or its based on what they want to do.

Yes, you can bring corals to sell or swap. All the vendors will bring corals for yout to buy, and some will also swap corals with you, as this is a way of them getting corals that they can't buy through wholesalers, which they can then grow out for further sales.

As we get closer to the swap members and vendors will start to make posts of what they will be bring to the swap, at that point you can make deals with members and vendors, either to buy or swap corals. The only thing is you need to be registered for the swap to buy and sell, you can't make arrangements to pick up things outside the swap.

Just to clarify this...you can't bring corals to the frag swap to sell without a prearranged sale already set up with a buyer. We don't allow members to set up an area to display corals they would like to sell.
Likewise - trades between members are usually prearranged.

As Marrone mentioned you will start to see many threads popping up in the next couple of weeks for member sales & trades at the Swap.

Unless you have something truly unusual it's likely the vendors may not want it as most of the vendors try to sell out everything they bring with them so they don't have to drag it back home and then dip & acclimate it to their system. It is a very long 2 days for the vendors from set up to break down and then the drive home :( Better to attempt to prearrange a trade with a vendor prior to going to the swap.
BTW - ONLY vendors listed on the first post of this thread can buy/sell/trade at the swap as they pay for a booth at the swap.

As far as buying from vendors do you pay and get a ticket or something and they bag it up later or do they bag it up then and there? Are you allowed out and in to put things in the car so you dont have to walk around with a bunch of bags? How does everyone hold their stuff?

Most members bring a cooler with them to store their purchases.
Many of the vendors will hold whatever coral you buy from them (if you pay them first:)) until the end of the day, and then you pick them up when you are leaving.
Yes, you are allowed in and out of the building.
We also sell heat packs at the registration table (along with IC Gel and sometimes MR Coolers), so if you choose to tske your corals right away, it will help keep them at the right temp.

The vendors will bag the corals up for you right there, which you can take with you. Most vendors will hold corals for you, as long as you pay for them first, and when you're ready they'll bag them up for you to take.

Most people come with coolers to store the corals or you can buy a Manhattan Reefs cooler, which are available at the swap. If you have a cooler you can carry it around with you or place it in your car. You will be allowed to leave the swap and comeback to put things into your car if needed.

Lol, you will definitely need a bigger tank, I know I've gone home from many swaps with so much stuff my tanks looks like a frag junkyard once I get them all in there!

Noobie corals - not hardly! I saw the thread you posted with some of your zoas on it (my favorite coral btw :)) and you have some beauties!! Just suggesting that before you take them out of your tank and drag them to Manhattan for an outing, and hope that you can trade them to a vendor, it's way better to see if you can prearrange a trade or sale :)

:) i don't think we will be bringing out our new gems we just got. wouldent wanna flood the market with some beauties :P . also! wouldn't want anything to happen to them with this uncontrolled weather. if anything they shall be sold on here.

and cant wait to meet allot of you guys/girls. hope there is some nice coral there. and also zoas/palys are my favorite also. my girlfriend got me into the hobby and now she hates me, cause i take it to far with the addiction. and i jam everything i buy into her tank. so i am setting up the frag tank in the basement. in till then i SHALL PACKK AWAYY! haha.
