I have a 120g reef with a lot of SPS and clams. My calcium needs are starting to get...intense. I'm currently dosing calcium 2-part something like 70 minutes a day total, spread out over 4 doses. Then there's alkalinity solution which is nearly the same. I have to replace the solution in my jugs around once a month, and I think that is going to get more frequent as things grow, as it already has and i'm barely keeping Ca near 400 (and hopefully things DO grow)
So...I'd love to just spend the $ once, get a reactor going, tweak it, forget it and stop spending 20$ every 3 or 4 weeks on 2-part.
But the CO2 bottle seems to be the bump in the road. Is it just not allowed/legal to keep a small (5 lb?) CO2 bottle in NYC? More importantly, is there ANY place in Manhattan to get the thing filled? Or is the Bronx, Queens or Brooklyn the only nearby options for filling? Of course there's the issue of me not owning a car as I'm one of those New Yorkers...
Also, before I research this further, how often would a CO2 bottle need refilling, a bottle that feeds a reactor, which buffers a 120g SPS/clam heavy reef?
TIA good hobbits :tank:
