When I was looking for rock info I came across BRS reef saver rock but was unsure what I was getting. Attached is a few photos of what 55 lbs looks like. I was very impressed with this rock. It was very clean and the pieces were all in very good condition. From the box of 55 lbs, there was very little rubble which means the shipping was done very good.

I'd definitely recommend this rock to anyone.

I agree. I started my tank with this rock. There are so many caves & holes some of which go clear through. Excellent for sheltering pods and other micro fauna. I too could not be happier with it.

BRS says its: "Environmentally-friendly, Reef Saver rock is all natural calcium carbonate rock mined from a land-based fossilized coral reef and does not damage ocean habitats in any way"

It definitely real rock but it's unclear where they get it from.

dried up areas where coral was abundant years ago. please rinse very very well. they leach phosphate like crazy, at least that's my experience. i wouldn't go with any other rock though, just making sure i rinse and acid bathe it first.

I also love the rock for aquascaping purposes. But, i have had so many problems with algae issues in the past that i discontinued using it.

I personally would rinse it incredibly well and run GFO from the start. Looking into other methods as well [ie: acid bath]

About 1 million years ago!

That seems to be a very common experience with the dry rocks from BRS, Marco, etc.

I just through it in the tank and let it cycle. No issues yet but my tank is still maturing at a snails pace because I started with only dry rock and a few peices of live just to seed it. The process is incredibly slow.

There are some people that do a latnam chloride (LaCl) bath of these rocks prior to cycling. Look it up in RC there is a big thread on this.

I have used these rocks in the past and also perform the LaCl bath with very good results.

Good Luck
