I have been running NPX pellets for a year now in a SMR1 reactor feed off of a manifold feed by the return pump the outlet of the reactor goes into my refugium then to the skimmer. Nitrates always read zero phosphate the last time I test was at 0.09 never really seen it work on phos but some people say that it needs some nitrate to be present in order to work on the phos. My tumble is not a heavy one I just give it enough flow that all the pellets are moving I never take out any pellets every 3-4 months I just replace what was used up. I never had any kind of bad bacteria bloom.

You'd figure there would be a natural reduction of P04 if your N03 are reducing unless there's something leeching P04.

like i sad , is way to fancy, this on link above u can run 300 gal. i can use up to 1000 ml biopellets, the main point is: u need GOOD skimmer, if u like to got great reactor Fish Town USA they have it ($ 169) PM , very good reactors, the bottom plate, is the key (made on CNC Machine, NOT cheap drilling holes) flow so well, i got 3.

DrTims, MB-7, and BioZyme are deep water aka cryptic bacteria (thats a Micro (can't be seen with your eyes) organism not a Macro (can be seen with your eyes) that's why their so aggressive so putting your reactor in the dark will promote a faster more dense developing strain of bacteria (brown or white slime in the reactor chamber and your skimmer wall) in your reactor just the opposite Zooplankton are mainly surface swimmers crustaceans and are not bacteria.
