I just got a new 40 gallon breeder and new stand from my brother who decided to get a bigger tank, as u can see in the pic the legs are not square tube but are L shaped, will the weight of the full tank damage my tiles.would a small rug help protect the tiles.I also put a piece of plywood under the tank is that okay or should it be removed.

Plywood is fine but you might want to paint it. Honestly your tiles should be fine but if in doubt you could make little wood squares or get the ones at Lowes or HD meant to put under furniture they come in different sizes that is what I do.

My iron stand is rusting in places from the salt, over the past few years, I can't move the tank off it so all I did is oil it with WD40, right though the salt, which stopped the rust.
I would place some sort of table top between the tank and stand to prevent salt/rust on the stand like you have, but widen it a bit to catch water so you can wipe off before it drops down to the legs.

Thanks for the WD40 tip, i was concerned about it rusting ,also as you said about the top I was thinking about skinning it and try to reinforce the stand with 2x4.

I would skip the plywood under the tank. I have had a 125, 90, 75, and 65 gallon tanks on a similar style stand on top of tile without issue. I would instead suggest using the plywood on the bottom shelf of the stand to create a solid flat surface to hold your sump/equipment/storage.

Also homegrowncichlid's suggetsion is good as well.

Thanks for the link really nice work ,that is what I had in mind to do my stand except for the bottom being raised off the floor. what size wood did u use for the corner posts ,they look like a perfect fit.
