Macropora, I notice the clam moved very little and not center under light. I figure the light was low and bright. So I raised it a little and notice the clam moved to center and open nicely. Is it because when they are small they a little sensive to bright light. How long you think I should keep in QT tank. Only thing I have in QT tank are few frags of SPS.

I would keep the clam in quarantine for a couple of weeks more and then move it to your main tank. Keep in mind the light intensity between the two tanks and try to mimic the placement. The maxima's will color up nicely under strong lighting. Give it good water flow and not to the point when the mantle is being pushed by the current and not opened properly. It's a good sign when you move your hand over the light where the clam is and it starts to close up quickly. The mantle has optical sensors or eyes that see the shadow. It shows that the clam is healthy. It doesn't need to be centered under the light. If you see some growth in a couple of months, your doing a good job!

Kres, was this the same clam that looked bleached out originally that we discussed? Looks a lot better and a lot darker mantle.

I don't see much information or Data for Clams here at MR. I would like to see forum for variety Clams. Is they one and I'm I missing it. Since I just bought one would like to see photos of them. Let's show and discuss about the beauty of Clams. Not only I find them so colorful. But understanding them too.

I think if you do a search you'll see a number of threads about clams, and there was one guy here that had like 12 or 13 clams at one point, include some of the Zebra Maxima. He also posted a lot of info on clams too.
