I have a red sea max 60 gallon that has exploded with aiptasia. My copperband does nothing and i CANT add a filefish (they are great at eating aiptasia) because they are not reef safe. I owned one before and he destroyed a tank full of corals. My only choice is the majano wand! Is it worth the 110$? does it work? Is it a gimmick? Ill purchase if i get positive feedback. Thanks...

Not for Aiptasia. You're best bet is to Kalk them. Either get one of the products, Joe Juice, Apitasia X, that does it, or mix Kalk and water together, and paste them over. You need to keep doing this until they're all gone, if that's even possible. The best thing to do is take the rocks out and scrap them off completely, then rinse the rock off before you place it back into the tank.

Once you have them in your system you're never going to get rid of them, unlesss you change all your LR and basically break down the tank and start over, but what you want to do it control them, especially in your MT. So Kalking them and scrapping them off help, as does using live predators.

In my experience with a filefish, he did his work until they were 100% gone, and that's where he went after Zoos and stuff, but not before they were all gone. It was truly his food of choice.

Then i had to get rid of him immediately thereafter.

And prior to the filefish, I'd tried everything. And everything else is so time consuming. Plus i didn't like shooting all that mixtures in my tank cause i dont think they are completely safe for all the surrounding corals and stuff either, or the water in a small setup at least.

the electronic device I believe is not the answer, I requested that the device be upgraded to provide more power but no one would listen, the pests require all you can do and more..,filefish ,. shrimp,.injection,.electronic,.etc....you must revisit the sites and repeat treatment and follow up with natural predators. management is key I suggest injection w red sea product and follow up and repeat treatment

The file did is the way to go there are people that posted here that have one and were looking for aptasia filled rocks so the can feed the file fish thrust they have in there tanks so they wouldn't die or loose the taste for aptasia

One for the wand

Just started using the wand in late December. While my aptasia problem is mild it does work pretty good. You'll have to use it often, since it's not an instant cure and you need to learn the right way to attack the anemone in order to be effective. For me peppermints weren't an option and I don't want to add another fish to my heavily stocked tank especially if it doesn't have a taste for aptasia. It does work to control the aptasia growth but it may not completely eliminate the problem. I have used Kalk and aptasia X, they work too but are a little messy and the aptasia come back anyway.
