Am going to Puerto Rico for a week next week as a birthday gift to myself today's my birthday lol. Question has anyone brought corals back from Puerto Rico with no problems, is it legal. I went to Florida a few years back and brought back over 20 pieces in a box just paid the extra carry on fee is it the same since it's international waters.

I don't see it being an issue as long as it is legal to collect. Puerto Rico is a US territory. You don't need a passport to travel there.

You should call the airlines and ask. If they don't know I am sure they can put you in contact with someone who does.

Thanks everyone for all the advice, last time I put it as carry on so the liquid amount didn't matter. I saw some blue sea fans and fluorescent color gorgonians on YouTube that had me open what about maybe shipping them ?

You can contact the USDA APHIS plant import office at JFK. Google USDA APHIS area office. They'll probably know. May also depend on local PR laws too.

Has anyone been snorkeling over there any spots ya can recommend loaded with corals lol

The best spots are not in the big beaches where everyone goes. I found a small beach where the locals go just driving around the coast once, it was $2 to access the beach. There was a large reef about 30 feet from shore that was loaded with corals and fish. There is a place called Gilligan's Island that I was told has very shallow water and as you walk the fish swim right up to you, but I didn't get a chance to go there. Have a good time.

Do some scuba. You can do the discover course or just do your open water certification while you are down there. I am not excatly sure how the online course works, but they have one. You so the majority of the work online and then you spend about an hour in the pool going over the equipment and safety stuff.

Arnaldolex, I don't know the exact name of the place I went to, I was just driving around when my wife spotted the beach. I do know it was in the area of the town called Ponce. I met I guy there that was snorkeling and he said there were many reefs along that coast area.
