It's due either light or flow........or maybe a combination.

Mine looks totally different from House's & we got ours at the same time.
He has his in his prop system, with less light/flow.
His have short tentacles, while mine have super long "whiskers" & changed color to purple-ish / green with a yellow mouth..

They are super fast growers.
Mine have sprouted 5 new heads (which are almost full grown) since the swap.

They Look Like young specimens I also agree with d. Also could be stress due to constant chemistry changes. As the both of u have very well established tanks.and u have them placed in proper flow cause I know u guys sat there and moved it around until they were perfect. Lol I do it to
