Well I've been looking into pendants and trying to get one used but having no luck. I'm setting up a 20g and a canopy is something I dont want sitting on this tank.

I was looking at a lot of pendants and most of them are $100+ and then Randy pointed out the Lumenarc Mini which measures 14.5 x 14.5 x 6.5 high and it's about the same price and a little lower in some cases than other reflectors.

Do you guys think it would be worthwhile to have this over a 20g?

If you're going with a 250 watt bulb, I think it's over-kill for that size tank.
That's an expense you can get away from by using a regular spyder reflector.
If it was a larger tank, I would say different.

Well, with the overspill from the luminarcs you wont have to turn on any other lights in the room thus saving you some cash for the ebill.

Normally I would say go for the lumis but in your case I say go smaller. I dont think you need such a big light.

I agree on the overspill, these things are made to make a 24" footprint, how about making a little wooden pendant and sticking a small reflector in it? I know pretty ghetto but otherwise you can spend $$$ and get those BS relfectors for SE from PFO
