how does nobody complain about sideways pictures or the Dr pepper he's dosing?

if you find it too aggressive, can you just lower the flow making it less active till u find a point ur happy with?

Just to crank this thread up a notch....
I'm not on my computer right now so I'll update with link later (maybe solby has it as he's mentioned several times in the thread)

There's an RC thread that references a few scientific articles that says very high carbon usage was more effective than *lith methods in reef tanks. I read it a 2am last night so without reading it again I really can't elaborate. In fact I really don't remember much about it. Hmmm this is a pretty useless post then isn't it?

I'll update with link later....

Jim, that's the 'passive' way of using carbon. It works, but not as well. bacteria colonize on the carbon and it looses it's effectiveness. Carbon in a reactor doesn't have that problem.

high quality GAC should not contain many phosphates.
ESV, and rowa are good choices.
I rinse the carbon in RO water before I use it.
In the winter when the tap water has a really low TDS reading
I might use cold water to rinse it, then dunk it in some RO just to be safe.

what process do you use to rinse your carbon?
i usually just put it in a container and keep refilling it with RO/DI and pouring it out till it runs clear. but this usually takes a lot of water. anyone have a better method?
