To Ebay or not Ebay...

:skull: OK, so I recently went on ebay to purchase a new light for my 75 gallon tank. I picked out the Coralife 48 Inch Aqualight with Blue-Moon-Glow LED Lamps. The seller was gung ho about getting the light out to me asap and was pleased with my speedy payment.

It has now been 2 weeks and I have heard nothing but excuses from this guy on why he cant ship the light out to me. He is claiming that no shipping companies will ship the light because the bulbs have gasses in them.

I payed this guy for 2-3 day shipping (18 bux) and now it has been 2 weeks without the product.

Anyone ever heard of this shipping problem before?
Is this a valid excuse for an ebay transaction?
Anyone know of how I can get my money back from Paypal?:skull:

You can file a claim with PayPal and the first step is that they would want you and the seller to resolve the issue. If you guys can not resolve the issue, the dispute escalates to a claim at which time, PayPal begins there own investigation and hands down a ruling almost like a judge.

The problem with that is it can take a long time for the issue to resolve. You would be better served to take care of it yourself. That sounds like a lame excuse considering everytime I mail something out, no one asks me whats in the box. He may be under different circumstances. Not sure what they would be though.

I would give him a friendly ultimatum and say if he can not get the light out to kindly refund your money.

DITTO, Hope you paid with paypal. Domboski already said what needs to be done. That is why I don't ebay, and I don't shop were I can't pay at pick up. Or of course know the person I am dealing with personally. I know it won't make you feel any better, but I got taken once on RC. Never saw my money, even after spending more doug to send the none working pump back to the jerk. You live and learn is my motto..

since I did use paypal, I setup a claim. This guy cant produce a tracking number for them (that being one of our major problems)

I sent this guy a long letter telling him i was unhappy and that I wanted my money refunded thru paypal. He sent me back some slick comment about me not acting like an adult!!!

I really needed this light for my tank cause my old lights are sucking big time. I went ahead and ordered the coralife with the moonlight LED's from marinedepot.com. This time I am taking no chances.

I really hope this person isnt gonna try and jack me up for my cash!

I guess if i have to I could dispute the charge on my Amex bill if I have to.

I never had a bad problem before with ebay WTF! Imma give this guy feeback that will make his grandchildren cry lmao!

Make sure you include as much information as possible when you file a claim. If he escalates it to a claim, you will not be able to respond anymore and PayPal is going to base there investigation on the communication back and forth while in the dispute stages. It doesn't sound like he has much of an excuse so it shouldn't matter but just to be sure.

I hope you were using Ebay messages to communicate with him too. That can be helpful as well.

yo yhis guy is psycho! I told him that i wanted my money back and this is what he sent me!

"that was not cool you must not have anything better to do but f**k with people i tried bein nice but ur just a d**k. you will never get s**t ive closed my pay pal and bank acc. if you just would of been a grownup about it you probably would have gottin atleast the light but now you wont get **** word ya got that new york"

is this guy for real!!! I never got the merchandice, asked for a refund, and that is the response I got! I am soooo done with ebay.

You paid with Paypal I presume?

File a complaint on both Ebay and Paypal and you will get your money back. You have 30 days to complete the complaint. Also, I recommend leaving scathing feedback, not only for that nasty email but the fact that he disrespected NYC!

Buy local next time. Lots of used equipment being sold by nice people in this area.

I would email that to paypal asap.In it he states that he owes you the lights or the money .Maybe even some highrer authority ,also email to ebay.

Like Josh stated paypal gives you 30 days to file a claim. This is where the bogs sellers trip you up. They figure if they can drag you along for the 30 days it will be too late to file a claim. Believe it or not most people wait the 30 days for items to be shipped only to find they have no recourse.

I've been involved in a claims case with paypal. I was the seller and buyer was claiming she only received one of two items; even though I know 100% it was packed in the same box. My error was that I mailed it with no insurance or tracking; at her insistence. Paypal ended up returning the funds to the seller. It was only $15.00 but still I got ripped off.

ok so i have been going back and forth with this guy getting him to say all sorts of stupid things while I have been completly sane and correct. He finally came to saying that he returned the funds thru paypal. I checked the paypal accnt and it stated that he initiated the refund. The funniest part about this whole thing is, that I never left him feedback. If he wasnt so nasty I prob woulda just gotten the refund and still given him A++++ on his feedback for doing the right thing. Now he got a negative mark with the statement. "THIS GUY IS A FRAUD!! HE TRIED TO RIP ME OFF!!" try to come and disrespect me and NY! No wonder he couldnt keep a tank, he prob cant tie his own shoe laces!

btw, thanks for all the help guys! I really like this community. I am glad I joined!
