I am very frustrated!! I just bought a HP 315 2.1 pix dig cam. The pics are just a little better then my AOL dig cam I used to have. I have it set on the highest quality (which only gives me 11 pics). Any help would be great. What camera is going to give me the results I am looking for(the very clear pics posted here) and what is it going to cost me? This was 300 bucks for this camera. Thanks E-Man

PS there is a 1 sec delay before pic is taken after depressing the button. is this normal for dig cameras?

Many on this board including myself use Nikon's Coolpix 880, 950, or 990's. These are all in the 3.34 Megapixel range. The quality of the shot is superb. If you have the budget and if you can still return yours.......

I also have a hp315. The 1 sec. delay is the focus. You depress the button 1/2 way to focus. Give it a sec. or hold it til you are ready then depress the rest of the way and it will take the picture. If you have a magnifing glass you can get crisper images through the glass( I use a 2 power). On my systems I always take pictures with the flash off, the actinics off, and always wear a black shirt to avoid reflection. If you want close-ups or wide anlge shots you need to buy the lens and lens holder.I think it's a great camera for the money. Here's a pic from about 5" from the front glass.

I have 2 digital cameras, Nikon 990 and a Sony MVC-F91. Both are awesome cameras. They are alittle pricey but you can find some deals if you look around. I got my Nikon 990 for only $380 at a Good Guys on clearance. The Sony is pretty easy to use and the Nikon can be a pain sometimes but the results can be amazing. Here are some pic's that I've taken:

A friend of mine actually has the HP315 and gets some good pics out of it. I personally myself use a Canon G1 with a Tiffen 43mm ring adapter with a +7 or +10 close up lense and get superb results, much better than with my old 950. The HP is capable of taking good macro shots even with its limited feature set. If you are willing to spend a few extra bucks, you can get some Macro shots that are just as good as the Nikon 950,990, and a few other top notch cameras. Basically just go to www.tiffen.com go to digital accesories and get the HP315AD 30mm mount along with the 30MACRO +18 closeup lens and you will have some great detailed pics up to 1024x768. I know this camera is capable of taking good shots,it has a great white balance and good AF, you just have to upgrade the limited non-zoom lens.

Nikon 880 is about the same price as the Kodak DC265 but has better options from what I've seen. The focus distance on the DC265 means you must be more than 6 inches (according to the spec sheet). But I guess the Nikon 880 has a macro mode. That's what would hook me!

I use the Sony Cybershot DSC-S70 with 3.3 megapixels. I am still learning the best way to get certain shots and a tripod is on the list of needs for better/clear macro shots.

I also use the Sony DSC-S70. It is a good all around camera and does a decent job with macro shots. Biggest downside is that color reproduction is sometimes disappointing. Here are a couple of shots using it.

Great pics guys. I am getting better with my camera but think I might upgrade to the new cyber-shot dscp50. Its only 100 bucks more then the HP and does macro...and economics

. This camera just came out so I am trying to find some reviews on the net or personal experience. Back to the store goes the HP315. Not bad just not what I wanted. E-Man
