I just got back from this placed called Fish Oasis, if you’ve been there you would know that they have 3 main tanks in the middle of their show room floor that contain an assortment of frags, the tank in the middle is extremely infested with the FLAT WORM, the other 2 outside tanks seem to be ok, I'm not saying to not buy from them, just want you to be aware, they have some really cool looking SPS frags for $29.99 in one of the outside tanks, they should be ok, from what I've gathered, they seem to be aware of the problem but of course, just as any other store, they just as soon not tell you and sell something to you from the infected tank.

Hey REEF-ER, the address is:

1335 W. Campbell Rd.
Richardson, Texas 75080
972-671-0465
if you go Bush 190, exit Coit going south, then go a couple of blocks and turn left on Campbell, then turn right into the Albertsons parking lot.
it's right next to the Albertsons, when you face Albertsons it's on your left, if I remember right, he had about 10 or 15 different types of SPS frags, I bet their still there.

yea, I didn't know about the local marine society, I'll check into it, it sounds interesting, thanks.

Just to present a different viewpoint of Fish Oasis, a number of months ago, I puchased a rather expensive SPS colony from the shop. The colony RTN'd on me within about 3 days. The manager there had heard about the dead colony from another reefer, and the next time I went in the store he approached me about giving him the opportunity to make it right with me. I recieved two smaller but very nice colonies from him as his was of making it up to me. I wish to stress that I did not go in as an irate customer, in fact I never mentioned it to him, he approached me about making it right.

The owner and managers of this store are from my experience very conscientous. I have seen the flatworms in their tanks you mention...I also know that they have tried virtually every known/rumored natural eradication method they can think of. They are avid supporters of the DFWMAS, and donate regularly to the club raffles.

As for flatworms, I'd challenge you to show me an LFS with reef type setups(and I don't mean Petco etc) in the DFW area with out the worms to some degree. I've had the "infection", as you refer to it, in my tank for almost 2 years, populations rise and fall, but have never bothered anything. I don't know an experienced reefer with an established tank in the area that doesn't have them either. Would I rather not have them...sure I guess so. I've personally noticed that my populations seem to increase when I'm in a heavy feeding mode, and decrease when I back off on the food. Either way, they've never been a problem, and many just see them as adding to the diversity in their tank.

I'm not coming down on you, and I think all would be appreciative of your efforts to share info with other local reefers. But to categorize Fish Oasis as unscrupulous in their business, as you seem to in your above statement, is rather unwarranted.

I have bought and will continue to buy from these guys, flatworms or not. BTW, if you do go back, ask for Justin to help you. He's among the most honest and sincere LFS employees I've come across.

You ought to look into the DFWMAS though. With MACNA around the corner, this should be an exciting year for the club.

I have to agree with Technobuyer on the flatworm issue. I've run across them in all the LFS that I frequent and I don't even worry about them. They are no big deal.

If you hold the rock close to a powerhead it will blow all the flatworms off. I really wouldn't worry too much about them. I've had them in my 120 but now I really have to look long and hard to find even one of them. I believe strong circulation has helped rid my tank of them.

I disagree, I think some of you are seeing a different type of flat worm, one that doesn't cover your entire tank, I myself have a few of those, some are white, some are brown, they just hang around here and there, yea no big deal, who doesn't have a few of them, the one that I'm trying to help people to avoid is the one that blankets your entire tank, and that's what the Fish Oasis store has, if you like those fine, I would rather avoid them.
