That's why I no longer shop at Aquarium Concepts.

Few LFS's are deserving of business, IMO. I see so much markup, nonsensical advice, etc.

LFS owners tell their employees that they can't discuss fish breeding with customers, mention other options for obtaining overpriced products (of course), etc.

I hope that LFS takes the PB Tang back. They shouldn't carry them in the first place. But if there's a buck in it, some unscrupulous LFS owner may push it anyway.

There are good LFS's. Many of them are lacking from what I've seen.

Ditto matt I hope I'm in that 5% too.

I won't even sell pb's they are too aggressive and delicate at the same time. Mostly they get so HUGE you need a small swimming pool for them eventually, to have enough space to swim constantly.

I have an LFS here (and competitor) that sells Panther Groupers as reef safe. That is a scary thought.

The one advantage on buying fish in New Zealand is that every fish has had at least three weeks in quarantine before it hits the store.

Prices are high, but at least each fish you see has a reasonable chance of making it.

Naesco- I actually have had a few experiences with talking with LFS employees. Some successful, some not.
The store I was referring to tried to sell me a Mimic Tang for my 15 gal. mini-reef. When I explained to the guy (who happened to be in charge of their fish dept.) that this would not be a good idea, he argued the point until I gave up. This is just one small example of the kind of information being dispensed there. That is the kind of stuff that is hard to take.
