I have now diagnosed my 4 poor fish with ICH which are in QT currently.

I purchased Instant Ocean Lifeguard tablets to be used as I thought it was ich but had no tell tale signs. Now I'm sure and would like to begin dosing.

Is there anything bad about the Lifeguard tablets that I should be using something else. It seems very easy to use.

Directions
Before treatment, remove filter carbon and turn off UV sterilizer.
Add one tablet per day to each 10 US gallons of aquarium water using the enclosed treatment apparatus. Use treatment for 5 consecutive days, at 24-hour intervals.
For best results, after 5-day treatment is complete, wait 24 hours (day 6), then return activated carbon and turn on UV sterilizer. Perform a 25% water change using a dechlorinator and a bacteria-enzyme to condition aquarium water.
To treat smaller aquariums, break tablet along score lines. Each 1/4 tablet treats 2-1/2 US gallons.
Active ingredient: 1-chloro-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-4-imidazolidinone. Note: Not suitable for invertebrates or newly set up aquariums. Some macroalgae may show sensitivity. Use only as directed. Do not overdose. If overdose occurs, add carbon or dechlorinator as directed for immediate neutralization.

Since I do 5gal daily changes I'll replace what I change with 1/2 tablets to keep the concentration up.

Sound good?

I'm not familiar with Lifeguard tablets but ich last longer than 5 or 6 days, so the treatment isn't longer enough to get rid of the ich.

I have used a sample pack of IO Lifeguard I got at MACNA on a totally infested 3" Red Sea sailfin tang. I used for 5 days per the instruction in a 5 gallon salt bucket, 50W heater and a maxijet as a circulation pump, changing 50% of the water with water from my display tank every night. I put the tang back in the tank on the 6th day and there were no visible ich on it. The tang is still swimming around in the tank now, it has been 2 months since the treatment.

Is the key putting it back in the display on the 6th day?

If I leave it in the hospital for say 6 weeks... does it have a chance to catching the ich again?

Basically saying the IO Lifeguard rids the fish of the ich in basically 5 days but doesn't kill the parasite in it's entirity?

I think this is not what cali is trying to say but it's better for him to elaborate on it.

I was just following the instruction... I am really not sure how many days it took for the ich to drop off the fish since it was treated in a bucket, I did not see any left on it on the sixth day when it was in a specimen box. My theory is the ich is always in our tanks, just waiting for a suitable host to really explode the population. I have a few tanks that are connected, I sometime sees ich on some of the fish in one tank but none in the remaining tanks. The infected fish are typically ill or stressed from other reasons first, some of the huge infestations I had experienced were tanks with no introduction of new fish for six or more month, a sudden large drop in tank temperature is a sure way to start an infestation in my systems.
