Pheeeeeeeeeew, what a weekend.

Went to the LFS on Friday and bought:

15G RODI
1 Polyfilter
1 Prizm Skimmer

I did the first water change on the Friday evening and installed the skimmer. I thought my efforts to go skimmerless should possibly be left for now, or at least untill i can get a system up and running thats a little more conducive to the skimmerless methodology. Anyway the Prizm cost me about £130 (ouch), and went straight onto the back no probems. After a few adjustments i noticed that if i reduced the flow rate too far, that a venturi would form behind the flow regulation valve. This was distrupting fraxination as these bubbles were much bigger than the rest and effectively colapsed the fraxination. So i dug arround and found some dental wax (for braces), and applied a long sausage to the connection point of the valve, no more venturi, and the fraxination had stabalised. Hooray!

By Friday evening things were looking much better, my open brain (the sofa) had inflated nicely, The Torch and the Frogspawn had much more life in them, and the plate corals had pulled themselfs together nicely. Still no sign of opening from the Green Star Polyops, but then they were allways a little slow to adjust.

Left things to settle for Saturday.

Sunday, another water change, and there seems to be much more progress. The Diatoms are no longer making any ground and iv'e managed to syphon most of it away. The skimmers working like a fiend, and im really pleased with the results. I think im going to be OK :D

Ive still got the Polyfilter just incase, i wanted to get the system going again on its own without any chemical assistance if neccessary. I thought it would just reduce any further stresses, but if things look bad this evening ill st pop it in the filter.

The spread of Briopsys seemes to have retreated from what iu can make out on the glass. When i get home tonight im going to buffer the alk up and see if that helps.

Thanks for the help guys, looks like i avoided this one by the skin of my teeth.

Yea, Steve, ive stoped feeding my "Sea Mushrooms" too

Thought it might have been a contributing factor.

But now ie cleared most of the "goo" away theres some very interesting things growing underneath.

Ive got this little green growth that looks like a Sea Fan, very small at the moment, but im going to try and clear the way for it and see if i can cultivate it some more.
