Does anyone know were I can find some pics of Richard Harker's tank. The 4000g was great looking I'd love to be able to jump in a tank to scrap the glass. It's a shame he had to take it down.
Thanks
JJ

It is a shame that he had to take down the 4k. I wonder how much that whole thing cost to put up in the first place. Is there a way he could have cured the condensation problems?

hi.
Yes, but it is very expensive to buy and run a dehumifier compare to the itsy bitsy reef tank

seems stupid to have a 4000 gal tank. you'd pay some much to stock it and yet never see half what you paid for. i think the only reason to go that big would be to create a self-sustaining ecosystem (if that would ever be possible), with no maintenance required (maybe just one or two fish and a whole heck of a lot of rock).

to me, 300 is optimal and 500 is as big as i'd ever want to go. the size of GT's tank is pretty good.

i agree. go scuba diving or something. once you go that big, you cant get up close to anything. something that big becomes that big just cuz of the impact that people want to display IMHO(most of the time).

Funny.........I go to Ontario to see my "girlfriends"......but I have never ever been to Pine Knob. The last time I was there I had trouble returning to my own country because I did not have my birth certificate or passport. I love Ontario and have thought about moving there after my divorce. I am planning a trip to Toronto in the spring. I miss the subway..LOL

I agree about the very large Reef tanks but a 2000 gallon tank with live rock and fish only tank would be Awsome!

Take some time Aquascaping the rock using Epoxy, Acrylic rods and hide all the plumbing. Keep the rock to a minimum and Put a few hardy low light corals that get huge like a colt or two and some leathers. Throw in some corals that spread like weads and let them be. build the tank out of concrete and partially submerge it in the ground. Use geothermal thermal controll and only ambient light via a low roof and sky lights. This would be very cool. This is similar to the 2000 gallon tank that is mentioned on a reef mag I read reciently but I would not build it as a true high energy reef.

Put in lots of Angles, tangs etc... and you would have quite a display.

Anybody remember the house/reef tank that posted on e-Bay a couple years ago? Pics of a 20,000 gal. reef set up - that's right, I didn't hit the "0" key too many times! It came with scuba gear! Don't know if it was ever actually up and running, but what a huge hole under the house! I guess that would be your life.

I got them 9/02 I feed them once or twice a day. Sometimes more if they beg real hard :) They will group together and follow me around when they see me begging for food. Great fish! Pseudanthias squamipinnis (lyretail anthias). Their favorite food is raw shrimp and they also like freeze dried plankton.

Kevin

Officially, the largest closed-system living reef aquarium in the world is at Atlantis Marine World on Long Island, NY. 20,000 gallons.

Those pictures don't even come close to capturing the true beauty of your tank Kevin. Thanks again for letting us come by and take a look, it was amazing.

Aquanut,
I have a mated pair of them. They are a great little fish that is always out and about. Inexpensive, eats anything, and is very peaceful. What more could you ask for in a community reef :)

Kevin,
Thank you for the kind words! I love to give tank tours (that's what my wife calls it  ) She thinks I'm talking a foriegn language when I start saying the names of the corals :D . Wish I knew all the names of my 127 species. Hope to see you again some time.

Regards,
Kevin
