I just read an article on this product and they stated that if something like this would actually work it would be used in other applications such as in the medical field and cleaning of drinking water. The article is in the july edition of Freshwater and Marine Aquarium. They talked about things it could be used for in the medical field such as cleaning blood if something to this nature could be accomplished. Bottom line was this does nothing for you aquarium.

IMO:
This product is total snake oil. Kinda like ionic bracelets. Don't buy it, or even try to consider it rationaly. Waste of time.

Oh yeah, I got this disguised spam from them:

Hello,
I just got done looking at your website. I thought it was awesome. I like your glass-blown art alot. Anyways, I am just going around the internet trying to raise awareness about ECO-Aqualizer, an aquarium filter made by ECO-Aqualizer Corp. who I work for. I have been professionally involved in this hobby in many different forms for twelve years now. I live, sleep, eat, and breath aquarium. It is not very easy but..... If you would please view our website at www.ecoaqualizer.com and then get back to me with any questions you might have I that would be great. I know it is asking a bit to do this but innovation is what this hobby is all about and I believe that ECO-Aqualizer can benefit all aquarists. I am not doing this for money but for the hobby that I am obsessed with. This is obvious because our product has nothing to replace and works for! over twenty years! I know I am biased on this account because I work for the company but I am speaking to you hobbyist to hobbyist. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards..........Ben Johnson

In my opinion, a classic con.

We got an email from the developer regarding this product. He says that over 4,000 hobbyists in Europe and Asia are using this product with excellent results. I have no idea who, if anyone, responded to him, but he sure seems to believe in it. IIRC, he says that you get a six month money back guarantee. Don't know what the initial investment is, but if it's not too hefty, I say, why not take him up on his offer?

Also removes blackheads, psoriasis , cures rheumatism , colic , gets rid of unwanted facial hair and washes the car.

The word panacea and snake oil come to mind but heck give it a try.

You're kidding right?

Because it is BS! Would you take Marc Weiss up on the same offer? Magic anti ich garlic exlir (just for you SM!)? Magnetic healing pads for your tank? Those laser lights that are supposed to be good for your fish health?

How about those miracle diet pills (not that you need them :D) or any of the other scams on tv? They all come with a money back gurantee.

Getting your money back is a major pain in the butt, and most people simply don't bother.

If 4000 people in Europe and Asia jumped off a bridge, would you?

Hey, c'mon! (Thanks for the compliment) I would be fishing under the bridge!

It just seems to me (and I am the kind of person who most definitely would bother, first ensuring that I would have that recourse--I know of no cc company that would help you out after six months) that it might be better to put all claims to rest...ah, <smacks forehead> I think this is a bit of the gullible me coming out. Hee..! I'll just stop right now.

Oh yeah, can you tell me where I can get one of those money trees?

I got this mail:
Hello Leopard Shark,
You have a beautiful website! I wanted to contact you because my company makes a revolutionary aquarium filter called ECO-Aqualizer. It uses magnetic flux and far infrared photons to release DOC (dissolved organig carbons) from water molecules. This allows metabolic fish wastes (DOC) to be removed more readily by protien skimmers and utilized by "beneficial" bacteria.

Please check out our website at www.ecoaqualizer.com

I feel it is important to keep an open mind in this hobby. If a product can make a better place for my aquatic creatures and allows me to fuss with the tank less, I would give it a shot. That is why our company offers a 180 day money back gaurantee. We know you won't be dissapointed because we know our product works.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards....Ben Johnson

Really don´t know what to think. But these mails are not spam IMHO.

It is not spam, since the emails seem to be individualized. However, I have not changed my opinion about the product since my made my first impression many months ago.

Maybe they need to get some real research done instead of just coming up with weird terms like "tetrahedrality" and "water reactivity"

Bottom line is remember the miracle elixers of the early 1900 cures what ailes you. IMO the same thing here you think it will work, it will work. A person puts this fairy tale creature on their tank and start to pay alot more attention to their tank. In a few days " Man this water is so much cleaner ". If you have in it your mind it will work then it probally will (in your mind) For anyone who is interested I have devolped a product that will keep you tank cleaner and healthier. I took a 2" piece of PVC installed a space age heater, wrapped the inside with sandpaper and dollar bills.

The guys had a booth next to us at the IMAC. It was comical listening to them, especially when they would get into an arguement with someone. In the end, when pressed as to how it worked.. they would repeatedly say "we don't know, it just does". It was however shocking to me how many people bought them. People will buy anything tho.. that is why all these "miracle" pills and snake oil products still SELL. Sometimes I'm in favor of only allowing people with an IQ of 100 or better to breed.. but then people start calling me a facist. :P

Sounds like a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze for your aqaurium. Would I buy one, probably not, would I say it doesn't work and is "total snake oil", not without testing it for myself and offering the proof to back my claim. Seems kind of reckless considering we're all liable for every word we type.

...would I say it doesn't work and is "total snake oil", not without testing it for myself and offering the proof to back my claim.

It is up to the manufacturer to give potential buyer information, and to convince them of the value of the product. It is unfair for us to label anything without actually using it, but it is naive to assume that we can't judge the information (not the product). I was just telling you my first impression of the scientific value of the articles on the web site, not the product.

I agree that Righty maybe slightly on the aggressive side, so I strongly suggest that everyone get two or three units to try it out.

Ok, technically, its not 'spam'. It is, however, unasked for, unwanted, unsolicited advertising sent directly to me.

And, I am aggressive in pointing out what I think are scams that prey upon my community.

Not trying to start flamefest 2003, but I think the latter of your statements can get you into bigger trouble then the first. Scam is a harsh word. Are you seriously suggesting that ecoaqualizer.com is a fraudulent business, deliberately swindling its customers? Why the STRONG anti-ecoaqualizer stanze? It is up to the manufacturer to give potential buyers information, which they have done, but as an "aggressive" critic you have a responsiblity to tell us why "it's snake oil", share your experiences or research. Because I said so doesn't count. The more I browse their site and the more I read the more I think that it just might work. Something I found on their site - Dr. Toshika Yamazaki , MD - "Far Infrared applied to water molecules begin a vibration which reduces the ion bond of atoms in water molecules. As the reduction of bonding occurs, encapsulated toxins are released." Not sure what it means but it sounds more convincing then "It's snake oil....". Why is it that you think that this product does not work?
P.S. just a friendly disagreement, I hope...
P.S.S. What does RDO Taskforce stand for?
