These birdbrains are recommending tangs as cleaners. For example they recommend a sailfin and a yellow tang for a 50 in one package and a naso and a yellow tang in another.
I am reacting to your comment that they probably won't outgrow a 50galllon. Do you still stand by that comment?
Jeremy spraypainting fur coats almost destroyed the fur industry in Canda. It took 15 years for them to start recovering.
What do you suggest we do.
naesco,
While you're up there on your soapbox all "outraged" ( )over this horrible injustice to tangs everywhere, why don't you take it a step further and declare that we all should be buying only captively bred and raised fish and inverts? In reality, you and all of us are guilty as well. If you have any fish or invert captured from the wild, you too are contributing to the destruction of the reef ecosystem. Everything that you keep in your tanks would survive better in the wild, given the opportunity. So unless you are ready to make the commitment to no wild organismsof any kind in your tank, spare us the histrionics. It smacks of hypocrisy.
And for the record, I don't recommend keeping tangs at all. That comes from my own experience with them, experience that showed me they aren't as well suited to captivity as other species. And I kept them in large, lightly stocked tanks and still had difficulty with them.
