Here is one of the many forums that are out there for octopus enthusiasts. With that said I have never owned one but it would be cool, I might be wrong but I hear they tend not to live that long. Anyway heres the link: http://www.tonmo.com/cephcare/equipment.php . Good luck
Corals sting octopus's =0) You also need to securely seal any opening in the tank as they are masters of escape, leading to heating problems in a reef tank due to high heat lighting.
I have had a few of them and one even gave birth to dozens of babies which did not last long. The adults will eat fiddler crabs which you can collect or buy at a bait shop. Octopus generally do not do too well in captivity and really need a tight tank. They will crawl out the smallest hole. Their beak is the only hard part and if a hole is larger than that they will probably find it. I have not kept them for more than a few months. Even under the best conditions they only live a couple of years and die when they lay eggs.

http://www.redseamax.com/redseamax/index.html i was thinking of getting one myself, i think this tank would be great for a octopus, just rember that RO water is a must and run carbon. i would just run atnic lights with this set up
so after doin a bit of research I dont know if I wanna keep em anymore. they are really smart! I don't know if I would feel right about keepin something like that in a tank. They really are beautiful though. Oh well, I'll go enjoy them at an aquarium or something.
I first got the idea just cuz I saw one on this amazing new show called Planet Earth. You guys should check that out if you haven't already. Its got some real good underwater and reef stuff. Plus terrestrial animals (if your into that kind of thing :wink1: ).
i looooove planet earth! its more popular at my school than american idol! I really enjoyed the time lapses of corals and such. great show. p.s. good choice. octipi can fit through 1" holes
more then american idol :shocked1: ? that is a refreshing bit of information... im not a big american idol fan. yeah, the camera technology is out of this world. they do all kinds of stuff. the time lapse is cool, so is the real slo-mo stuff. Plus there super zoom cameras capture stuff that has never been seen from certain angles. ahhh... i love nature
I briefly kept one for my son. Had it about 1 month. Heater accident did him in. He was doing great until then. Hands down, the coolest creature I've ever owned.
