Use of ball valves in drain line

I use a strainer on my Durso and it works great. Don't glue on the top of the Durso assembly so you can lift the whole thing off and scrub the strainer if a lot of encrusting organisms grow on it.

I didn't glue the standpipe at all- I can remove the whole piece down to the bulkhead. Makes maintenance so much easier.

I do not know what type of standpipe that I made but it is 1 1/2 pvc with a 90 elbow on the top. The 90 sits about 4 inches below from the top of the overflow and I keep the water level flowing to use half of the open end of the 90 elbow. This setup makes no noise, atleast none that I can hear.
