Hi, well im From Puerto Rico... Wich City?? Bayamon
are you from P.R???
I was born in New Orleans, but have always had most time with my mother's side of the family. Yes, I do believe I have some family in Bayamon.. not certain, though. My mother was raised in San German (the next plaza over from Porta Ceoli (sp?) ), which is where my grandparents and some other family members still live. I also have family in San Juan, Rio Piedras, Guayama, Parguera, and on the other side of El Yunque - all over.
well now to the topic....
my friend didnt do anything to the water.... u guys metion something about iodine.... i know this is imprtant foir crustaceans... ( i evreyday put some seachem iodine to my tank

LOTS OF CRUSTACEAN THERE jeje... but i didnt know that insufficient iodine could cause death...
probably it was that.... but i didnt notoiced any shedding on the lobsters body.... ohh well...
It can, but I believe it takes a little while for this to happen. Also, if he's been doing regular water changes, then there shouldn't have been a problem. There are many, many other possible reasons for the death.
ohh forgot to mention.... my friends tank has a Volitans Lion fish ( now ilegal in PR since almost 3 days from now (SH*T!) )i know that the liofish eats small crustaceans but the lobster was to big for him.. and he didnt even noticed it...
well se you guys!

Without knowing any other water parameters, as well as how long the tank's been set up, filtration, and so on, we'd be shooting in the dark while trying to guess at what happened. I suggest strongly that you don't dose chemicals, etc., that you don't test specifically for. It's just as bad to overdose as to underdose in many situations, and in order to prevent that you need to know what your starting point is, as well as where you're at. In my experience, with every crustacean I have ever handled, I've never needed to dose iodine, or even calcium. I simply keep up with regular water changes, and once I switched to Real Ocean (collected off Catalina Island out here) there was even less need to worry.
