I've used distilled water for a 29-gal reef tank for over a year....no problems. I couldn't justify a RO/DI unit at the time.

For smallish tank, it is difficult to justify a delicated filter. I used more water from the water filter for my household use more than my reef tank. Most people here use bottled water since the tap water here is so bad.

Actually, Pretty Clown, I heard that majority of distillation plant use aluminium condensor due to weight and cost issue. Copper condensor is hard to find except in smaller/older plants.
