Be nice, everyone. I am sure both Aerosmith and PLB are very unique, but IMHO, Aerosmith's is a lot more pleasing to the eye. Can be just the camera, you know ;)

I did just get a new camera!

Beaslbob, is the eggcrate to seperate the fuge from the main display? Or, is it to get the macro to grow up, like a lattice?

Are your nitrates still zero? I've found when my nitrate level is too low, some of the macros go dormant and begin to spore...

PLB's lattice is for separation purpose only, I think. But hear from the man to be sure.

It is to seperate the fuge area from the main display. Macros and pods thrive between the eggcrate and back glass. I also have 2 4' 2 tube utility fixtures behind the back glass to light up the refuge area. Those lights are off in that picture.

Except from my recent screwup, nitrates have been 0 for about two years or more. After the screw up nitrates rose to 80-160ppm then dropped to 0 in about 4 weeks.

What I have found out is that the macros grow then slow their growth as they become nutrient limited. I did have a new macro spore that was in shipment for 3-4 days and put in a 0 nitrate system. But macros that grew up in the tanks have never spored at least in the cloudy, dumping ammonia sense. I do have some that did no last long with the nutrients and lighting I had. But no adverse effects. I do harvest once a month or so.
