Mollies are brackish water fish that can survive in salt or freshwater provided they are acclimated slowly. They would keep your QT tank cycled, but I would not want to put them in my reef and have to catch them every time I used the QT.

I have a 155 reef with lots of live rock and it never takes more than a minute to catch a couple mollies. They practically swim into the net.

Chromis, Mollies - its the same thing. Either you leave them in the q tank when you medicate, or you take them out. Medicating a not sick fish seems weird. So take them out when medicating. If you are worried about catching them again, put them in your sump or in a net breeder.
I would use mollies because they aren't taken from the wild.

Dawn, I would pull the sponge and start again.

I have new backup sponges, but they won't be seasoned. Now I have an additional problem- I think one of my firefish- see my thread on dorsal fin missing-is being harrassed, and I may need to move him. I drained the tank, rinsed the sponges in tank water- added new water, and am up and running in anticipation of the possible need.
