I need to upgrade my chiller, I'm running a 1/10th via aqua currently

I'm looking at the larger 1/4 or 1/3 sizes, but the ratings seem wrong

CC-50, 120v AC, 380 watts for the 1/3 chiller 160 gallons and 10 degrees pulldown

the cc-25 model is supposed to be 1/4, but btu heat removal raiting of 1500 BTU/HR, 240 watts power draw

does not sound right, sounds more like a 1/5 hp model doesnt it?

is 1500 btu/hr about right for a 1/4 hp chiller?

I think they are rating them one size higher than they really are

the btu rating on the chillers from different companies are ALL over the place, not sure how they come up with the rating, but some 1/4 have 3500 btu, and some have 2000 btu

Pretty sure the via-aqua are undersized, by 1 or 2!

the cc50 uses 3.3 amps

almost all 1/4hp chillers run 5.5-6 amp draw

damn I knew they were too cheap to be real

Are you sure that the almost all other 1/4 chillers are not using 120V and the CC50's running on 240V? that would explain the diffence in amp draw..

115 volt on the ones I checked spec, along with the cc50 and cc25

yea.. smells like a lemon to me..
Nothing I have experaince with (chillers)
I was just trying to use some of that common sence stuff that slips me sometimes..
another one that comes to mind is the effecency of the design.. but thats not a likely issue.. it just doesnt sound like a suffecent reason for that great of a diffence..
