First a quick recap. I am the one that had to dump my old tank quickly and decided to add the bulk of my corals to my tank.

All corals including my clam are good so far with the exception of xenia. When I first set up my tank I had a small fragged piece and a green star that attached to a large rock. I added it and the star did fine and the xenia has not looked the same. That was 2 weeks ago.
Yesterday, I added my larger piece of pink pulsating xenia, and it is not looking to good. It has not reached out and up yet.

Checked all levels again today they are as follows

SG 1.025- 1.026
Ph 8.2-8.3
Amonia zero
Trite - zero
Trate - zero
Calcium 440

I took a sample to the lfs to compare and he had the same results give or take a tiny bit.
All levels have been zero since Saturday the 14th, prior to that I had nitrate reading's around 5-10.

Question #1 What is wrong with my xenia?

Question # 2 I have a sailfin who is my favorite. He is still in the old tank. Will add tomorrow. I want a powder blue tang as well. Can they live together like I have seen others here do? If so how should I add them, together?

Thanks guys

Oh btw my lighting consist of VHO(btw the corals look better than ever WOW) 760 watts. I believe they are 10k or 12k honestly I forgot for some reason. Will clarify.

What were the condition like in the old tank? Xenia seem to fair better in tanks with nutrients. Some also argue that maintaining proper iodine levels is a must for them, too.

Question #1..xenias are notorious for sulking when they are moved. If they are not looking like uncooked egg white i.e. decaying I wouldnt worry too much Doni.

Question #2 Havent a clue , but hopefully someone else will chime in here.

I checked levels in old tank on Tuesday the 17th, and trite, trate, and amonia were zero. The SG is about 1.025, perhaps a hair lower. The ph is around 8.2. Of course that tank had been around for 10 months, so I assume it probably had more good stuff in it.

I have been adding Magnesium, and purple up to the new tank so far. The reason for purple up is because I only have a little left and wanted to get rid of it. I use it for calcium. When that is gone I will buy something new.

Does this answer the question well enough?

Oh yeah, unarce I dont see your powder blue anymore what happened?

Decide when you've put the PBT on hold at your LFS. If the PBT is a lot larger, put the Sailfin in now. If the PBT is a lot smaller, than add the Sailfin a week or two after the PBT.

If they're close to the same size, it might be too risky. You'll want to add them at the same time, right after the lights go out. Covering the tank with a blanket might help, too. At this point, you just cross your fingers :P

They do like Iodine supplements, but you have to be careful or WHAMMO instant algae outbreak ;)

As you can see everything else has adapted quite well. I did not include pics of the mushroom, because they can adapt to freshwater(kidding). Or my clam.

I think what is in order to say here is "patience grasshopper!"

had to do it. I have found that tangs are crazy some go in fine some hate each other right off the bat, i guess if it was me I would add them at the same time if they were similliar in size. I had a tang that the LFS couldn't classify and it was only about 2 inches long I put another tang in months later almost 3 times the size , not the same species but had a similliar body shape and it was a disaster from the very beggining.

didn't think i would ever say this, I miss oscars!!!! lol just kidding!

good luck Doni! let us know what happens so we know!

Your xenias are fine. The just need to open back up. They are not melting away.

Yeah, just like the others have said-wait and see. Xenia is a somewhat fickle coral until you get a piece of one to grow. Then......xenia explosion! I'm sure you know this. They really can be difficult to transfer tanks. If it doesn't make it, it's not like you lost your torch coral. I definitely wouldn't go overboard trying to change things for the xenia's sake as you may end up aggravating some of your other corals.

I'm sure it will perk up 8)

Thank you all for the advice. Today the xenia has opened back up. My wife called to tell me. Not only that she says it looks better than ever. Opened more, looks bigger, and even pulsating more. I cant wait to get home.

Alright the xenia looks open, and is pulsating well. However, the stalks are not extended upwards like they use to be. They seem almost smushed down. Does this mean they are getting to much light? Should I move them down.
In the old tank they were getting about 3.9 WPG, and now they are getting a little over 6 wpg. I have them placed about mid level. Thanks.

They will adjust just fine, the lack of extension could be a current issue, i.e. more flow than they were used too. Leave them where they are, it does sound like they are adapting well.
