Lol no just wanted to know what Fs you took him to (will he fit in a 29 gall?).
Its the small fish store with tanks every where (no place to walk) with a huge tank for LR?

I'll take him.....if you're willing to pony him up for free.

I'll pay for shipping.

I've got a 210 gallon with anly a couple of clownfish in it.......I've been looking for a "centerpice" fish, since I'm more interested in the asthetics of the environment than the abundance of fish (trust me......there's nothing like trying to explain the beauty of a bristle worm to your wife when you've been scoping out the tank with a red LED light at 2am).

Anyhow....Sohals rule..

Otherwise, try to sell him back to your LFS..or maybe the'll do it on commisson.

I recently pulled my hyper aggressive purple tang that killed my 5+ year old regal and I suspect he did in my prized powder brown too. Traded him in at the LFs with a warning about aggression - now he is a stunning specimen so of course someone buys him with the warning. I come back 2 weeks later and there he is again traded back in for 'out of control aggression'.

I'd maybe find someone with a really big FoWLR and see if you could pawn him off. Maybe with enough space / tankmates you could minimize aggression. Sohal are one of my favorite fish but the territoriality makes for a difficult fit in many tanks.

interesting!

I have both a sohal and a purple tang in the same tank. Both seem to get along alright. Perhaps, you guys got a couple of rogue bogies. Nevertheless, that's terrible. Beautiful fish; sad to imagine they're not welcome anywhere.

I had to remove around 100 pounds of liverock from my tank last weekend to remove a spotted hawkfish that had killed all my shrimp and my purple firefish and was starting to attack my mimic tang. Took him back to the fish store where I had purchased him from months earlier and they gave me an in store credit, although I didn't ask for one. It was my fault for not checking this fishes compatability with others already in my tank.
I restacked the rock three times and still cannot get it to look as good as before I had to break it down, but at least the tangs tail has healed up and I have re-introduced cleaner shrimp to the tank.

Thats a bummer Snook but when I read about hawkfish killing shrimp well I had a to chuckle a little. Even the slim mouthed longnose hawk will smash them into bite size pieces then chow down. If you want to try again do a longnose or lyretail hawkfish and add them after the shrimp have been settled in. Any future shrimp additions will be seen as food but sometimes established ones will be left alone especially if they have prominent 'cleaner' markings.

I would take him to the store and get whatever store credit you can. He may be aggressive in your tank, but when put into a tank where he's the "small fish" he may change his mind about being so aggressive.

Yea, it was my fault. I have tried to keep compatible fish for the past 6-7 years and this was the first time I screwed up. It was somewhat of an impulse buy that I have avoided until now. FYI, I had these shrimp for at least 3-4 years and they were both fairly large, so at least the hawkfish ate well for a couple of meals $$$$.
