I just fired up these halide pendants tonight. They both are 250de 14k hamilton bulbs. The one on the left is a magnetic ballast, and the one on the right is an electronic. I have them at 9 and 10 inches above the water line. I kinda feel they should be closer to the water line?? I am planning to try to grow some sps stuff.
Any suggestions from someone with a sim. tank??

Not too much going on yet. Lots of summer projects and stuff. I added a couple frags, and got the levels close to being right
The lights are running just a few hours a day. Hopefully this fall I will be able to really crank things up!

Just foolin around with a webcam. My goal is to have a way to view the tank anywhere via the internet. I tried using Yahoo instant messenger to broadcast and it worked, but I don't think it can be used for what I am trying to do.
Is anyone out there using a webcam, and how are you broadcasting/viewing??

I use an old shareware app called Homewatcher that I've rigged to work around the shareware limitations. (The developers of it have scrapped it and theres no way to purchase the full version options..) - Matter of fact, you might not even be able to find the latest (v2.0) version because their web site has been shut down.

BUT........

All that aside, if you only want to see it yourself and not necessarily share it with the world or record it, you can just use an old desktop and load it up with LogMeIn Free and remote the desktop, opening the webcam like you would if you were sitting at it..
