No. Certainly evaporation raises salinity, but that is not what I am talking about here. The main by product of combining parts 1 and 2 is salt. Over time, depending on how much you use, your salinity will rise.

Yes, Sodium Bicarbonate is one of the parts of Randy's two part.
Which is why SG can increase over a period of time.

I was wondering how do most people here dose/add mg (btw - also can increase your SG over a period of time)??

Yes it will raise your SG over time. Specific Gravity is defined as:
"also called relative density ratio of the density of a substance to that of a standard substance. The usual standard of comparison for solids and liquids is water at 4? C (39.2? F), which has a density of 1.000 kg per litre (62.4 pounds per cubic foot)"

So basically just about anything you disolve into water will increase SG over time because it increases the density.

For me, monthly water changes and B-ionic take care of it. Since I go through about 1g of each part every two weeks I am dosing plenty of Mg.
