After all the years of dosing Kalk, I finally decided to start using B-Ionic.
It's been a week at the the recommended dosage & I cut out the Kalk.
Just topping off with regular RO.

Curious if it wise to continue to dose Kalk along with B-Ionic, or just completely stop using it.

My PH is dropping...:shhh:

After reading a post by Solby (some time ago), I decided to stop using Kalk in my system as well.....
Couldn't be happier not having to deal with that $heite anymore!
My no problems with my water params either.....I found it to be totally unnecessary!
I also stopped wasting money on B-ionic and switched to Randy's two part....nothing but happiness here!!

I AGREE!
Randy's Two Part is a Godsend for our hobby.

Thanks guys....

I had some bottles of B-Ionic, so when these run out....I'll probably look into making the 2 part.

I was thinking about continuing to use Kalk, as my PH has always been in the 8.2 range.
Lately it dropped to the 7.8 area.
Just wondering if using Kalk & the B-Ionic will throw the levels out of whack.

I've been using the 2 part since I started and my ph swings about .2 per day. In the morning it is lowest anywhere from 7.8 to 8.0 and then goes up after the MH have been on for a while. I also noticed a big difference when the Air conditioning is on the PH is lower. Once I open the windows and let oxygen in it stays more stable and fluctuates less.

When I first got my controller I was nervous about the swing, but everything has been thriving for 11 months with the same program so I don't chase it anymore.

Check your Mg Phil, it may be too low and therefore your tank is not buffering well (pH is not able to be kept stable). But since Mg is present in B-ionic it will eventually rise over time with the dosing.

I just use B-ionic. Stopped dealing with Kalk a long time ago, it is a PITA IMO.

I went from CA Reactor for the longest time, to
Tiny bit of Kalk with CA Reactor, to
B-Ionic only, to
Kalk only, to
Kalk with a little bit of CA Reactor.

Right now happy with the Kalk and CA Reactor combo as I also was having low PH issues. I think B-Ionic is great, but only as long as you are more religious with your dosing and testing. Shaun is spot on with the Mg issues. Make sure to go with the 3-part dosing.
