Just a question as I am thinking about switching from my two Tunze 6101's with 7095 multi controller to two new Vortech with wireless driver. Any thoughts from anyone? Am I making a mistake? So far the pros I have on the VorTech are that the pumps don't take as much room in the tank, no motor in the water, they run about 7 to 10 watts lower than Tunze, they seem to have a wider water jet than the Tunze, wireless driver (currently only use the pulse motion on the 7095), no extra contraption for a multi controller - I am sure there are more but before I put my entire Tunze system for sale with magnets for $775.00 I just want to get feed back. Thanks!!!

Not sure but I think some people were having problems with the wireless driver. I would read further into that.

I can't comment on the tunze,at the time I found them to be a bit room consuming.however, I've had the vortech for a while and recently got the wireless driver upgrade.
the vortech is great in the space and heating issues but ,you already know that.I have an oceanic 120gal and the flow is good from one side to the other, although I recently sent my wireless controller in for sevice,I was having a problem with the pulse mode, It was a simple device to operate.
On a side note, I recently picked up a maxijet mod ,the gsII high flow and although it does not have a controller, this simple mode has more flow than the vortech at high speed. On my set up now I have a vortech on pulse on one side and the GSII on the other and all I can say is "Now that is flow!".
if you want to see an alternative take a look at the thread on RC.

home wrecker- the pulse mode was not pulsing it simply stayed at a constant speed, this however has been fixed. also don't forget every new item on the market has its glitches.

RonsterNYC-- Why sell/trade the tunze if you already have them in your tank.

I like the directional capability of the Tunze and I'm spoiled by it. I don't like that the vortechs can ONLY point straight ahead. Maybe if I didn't have that experience I wouldn't mind. If your tunzes go straight across your tank you might not care anyway. If they're angled on purpose you might think twice about replacing them.

Phyl - I hear what your saying about the directional versatility of the Tunzes, in my case however they are currently going straight from left to right opposite one another...

i have the original vortechs and they work great but i just upgraded to the wireless driver, 1 works great and the other i had to send back to echotech...they replaced it, no questions asked with a new one, overall i prefer them over tunze just for the size aspect.

If you get a chance to catch Jake Adams speak any time soon you'd change that in a heartbeat! He spoke at the NJRC Swap this past October and the stuff he said about flow has me changing my pumps around daily looking for the best flow pattern.

He'll be at the Hidden Reef in PA on the 17th (yeah, I know it's a haul, but since he's coming from Cali...).

But if you're content with them facing each other then you won't mind the vortech's.

they're not directly facing one another - one is on the front of the tank and the other is on the back of the tank - hope this makes sense...I will try to be there on the 17th. You know what time he'll be there?

Way too early for my liking! 9:00am to 9:50, just before their sale starts (at 10:00 am).

HERE'S some information on the event.

I think I can picture what you're saying. Front on one side and back on the other?

Phyl- I was at that lecture, very good info. I went home and adjusted my vortech to the top left about 4" from the top, and the flow was incredible. It goes from left straight across to the right then hits the glass goes down and back to the left side.good flow. great lecture.

Ronsternyc- why not just readjust the tunze to go with the flow as oppossed to against each other? you might like the flow better.
