Just a heads up for all of you that purchased the hydor koralia powerheads w/o the deflector. New hydor units are now sold with a deflector that allow you to control the direction of flow. I requested two and received them within a week no charge. Follow the thread for more, it worth your time.

It seems that the flow deflector give you a more direct flow, as opposed to the wider flow you're currently getting without it. It seems to work for people with sand and smaller tanks, as you can control the flow better and creating less sand movement. Though I think it gets away from the gently wide flow that people are looking for, which in a softies and LPS tang is better.

I think I like the idea of the deflector. What I've found with the Koralias is a flow more in 2 opposite directions rather than 'wide' in all directions. It seems the deflector will make a flow more similar to the Tunze streams imo.

Yes it's 4 ways but that gives you a nice wide flow,

Well that theory varies with personal preference & tank dimensions.
With my tank, it hit everywhere I didn't want it to.
If you are using this on a long tank for the flow to go across, it's not going to happen.
Tunzes & Seios will spread at distance..

I guess enough people complained about it for them to make it.

Well regardless of the debate, it good to see that users now have an option on which they prefer.
