I've started to write and delete 3 times. I don't know where to start asking questions. Obviously you stated that is was one of your best dives, So Question 1 = Why do you think this place is to able to keep the reef in such good conditions? Is there a barrier, Is there less commercial traffic, or is the reef being helped etc etc.

By the way thanks for sharing your trip Josh and the mag is really nice this month Jhale.

Encounter anY sharks

Yeah, actually we saw a lot of juvenile white tip reef sharks sleeping under the corals at night. And during the day we found a lot of wobbegong sharks which were all about 8' long but impossible to see with their camouflage. Here is a bad photo of one of the shark's heads, see if you can make it out.

There are no tourists. The only people to venture out into that area are going there specifically for reef preservation excursions on these sorts of dives. The only danger to the reefs is some reef bombing by locals for food.

Josh what camera did you use? Those pics turned out real nice.

Actually, all of those photos were taken with a Casio Exilim and a $200 housing, nothing special. Everybody else had $5k rigs and I was there with a $350 kit and a good flashlight! My wife took photos with a Sea 2 Sea 120 and got some great photos but they were just for prints (no digital). If you come to my apartment you can see her series on our dining/diving room wall!

Thanks for sharing Josh, I've been wanting to do a liveaboard for quite some time & almost booked with the Agressor fleet but backed out. I'll be diving in Roatan this summer and recently came back from Bermuda where I hit the "King George" wreck & a few coral reefs. It was nice diving but could not have compared w/your experience. You definitely took "the trip of a lifetime" & will have memories to cherish & stories & photos to share for a long, long time. Nice mini documentary & excellent photographs!!!!!!
