Up until last week you were allowed to bring a free guest if you noted when you signed up that you were in fact bringing a guest. After 11/30 if you did not register with a guest you must pay for them whether they are in the hobby or not.

I was thinking the same. Where was this cut off date mentioned in the RSVP page?? Also, I couldn't find a place to put in "guests" when i registered otherwise I would have done so and done it earlier.
I wanted to bring my wife so I waited to register to see if she would be able to go. It would have been nice to know about this "significant other" cut off date. :irked:
Oh well, I'm sure it'll be worth it.
So how do I add her to the guest list? She's not a member of the forum. Do I just RSVP with my member name again? I was thinking of just paying for her at the door but it may be better to get the tik in advance.
Thanks.

Best thing I could tell you is to rsvp with your name again and in the rsvp thread update it to you plus one in a new post.

It is only too late it if are not willing to pay the extra admission.

I do need to remind people that, THIS IS A FUNDRAISING EVENT and the offer of a free guest at all is very generous given that admission fees form a large part of the fundraising. Sorry to those who missed the deadline, but is giving a little back to the community in order to share this great event/hobby with your friends that much to ask ?

no, but it's too late now

Not at all. That's why I went ahead and bought my wife a ticket this morning. It's just 20 bucks. It won't break the bank and I'm sure it's put to good use ... right?? But now that I've paid an extra 20 could I get that cool little donor icon?? :)

Like RD just said this is a fund raising event. It helps MR survive and keeps things like server fees and system upgrades paid through out the year as well as pay for the swap venue and food for us all to enjoy that day. We are lucky that the free guest was an option. Years of going to fire dept meetings and conventions I can tell you that my wife had to be paid for full price for a number of years and trust me she wasn't into fire dept anything except making sure I was being good.

So it's 20 bux and maybe she gets into it too and it's money well spent.
