This video features the harmonic waves produced by tuning the vortech pumps to the resonant frequency of a tank's 'wavelength'. The first tank is 120cm, featuring a standing wave or 3rd harmonic, using two pumps in antisynch pulse mode. Second tank is 60cm, featuring a long wave or 2nd harmonic, using one pump on pulse mode.

cool video Jake.

the real secret to the wave is the music. what you don't see is the 30 people dancing in front of the tank, making the wave ;)

I'd be afraid to make a wave like that in my tank, it would overflow. you really need to plan out a new tank with that capability. I just keep my 2 vortechs on reef crest in antisynch and everybody looks happy

This is the coolest thing I've seen all day. One of the related features shows a similar effect with less height to the standing wave:

This looks like wave action constantly scouring the rock surfaces, and seems like it would be much better than typical turbulent flow. The downside is that it makes me a little seasick...

Cool video. Last night after reading this thread I played around with the vortech and created some scary waves in my tank. Had to make it stop since I didn't want a flood.

I have to say that those Vortechs are really, really awsome and I love the wave ability. But, for the life of me, I just can't bring myself to pay $800 for two powerheads. I understand that they are sophisticated and all, but I mean really. I'm not knockin' anyone who has paid for two or even up to four.....I tip my hat to you, but it frustrates me when something as wonderful as this comes available, the manufactures take advantage with the knowledge of the potential popularity these units will have and charge a huge amount of money for them. Case and point, Solaris LED lights.
I heard Hydor is coming out with something called "Wavemaker 2" that will be able to simulate the Vortechs. I hope they price it reasonably.
