Tunze Osmolator is hands down the best there is. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. The actual level sensor has no moving parts to wear out, jam or get stuck. Look for one used to save some bucks.

I just bought one from Aquahub. Hopefully it will be delivered this week. It also has a dual sensor. It comes in a kit form and costs less than the others. Plus, I find it fun to fix problems on my own (I like that feeling of acomplishment). I'll let you know what happens when it arrives.

We're big fans of Autotopoff.com units. We've been using them for nearly 2 years also with no problems. We have them on 2 of our tanks. Not the Tunze Osmolator, but a great product for the price and performance.

I brought this Here
and It was horrible because it would turn on the pump at the right time and turn it off at the right time but then it would have a syphon and I didn't want to spend more money on something else. So I had an extra solenoid and added it, no problems anymore.
Maybe all you need is a solenoid to stop a syphon.

Tunze osmolator is nice but worth the money? I don't know. It's loud as hell but extra fancy.

I've also used the autotopoff.com dual unit with a MJ 1200. I was very happy with that and it will be what I use next.

Sounds like you did not put a syphon break in. Or used a larger than needed pump. Or the reservoir was above the sump.

After going through 2 of the autotopoff.com units and 2 years i turned to the Litermeter III.

The precision amazing and not relying on switches and level sensors is very comforting.

You won't be disappointed with the Osmolator as the optical sensor is dead on accurate. But you need to clean it regularly and I've usually suggested that one makes it part of their regular monthly routine. Change the carbon, wipe the optical sensor. Tunze equipment has gone up recently because of the increase in Euro vs USD.
