how long are you lights on

right now my lights are on for 13 hours a day. is that too much like i keep getting algee on my glass. i am running phosban with rhwophos.

Well after 13 hours I would expect that. Are you running MH ot T5's?
I personally think you only need 6-8 hours at most, but everyone has their preference and at how much power(illumination) they are providing to the tank.

I keep my lights on for 8 hours every day.

I Keep Mine On 7hrs In The Summer 1hour Acintic Then 5 Mh Then 1 Hour Acintic For Winter I Do 9hrs

I think 6-8 hours is a good range. 13 hours is a bit too long.

If theres algae, lower the timing the lights are on

If there is algae, lower the phosphates instead of light time.

That being said...
My VHO actinic are on 12 hrs
MH are on 7 hrs.
