it was a slow progression to slowly aclimate the s.americans to slightly higher ph 7.8/8.0 they're fine awsome coloring and great tempermant.. the africans are fine with the slightly lower ph.. it keeps them a lil less aggessive..i havent lost a fish in over a year.. but it has a ton of salt in it!! i wouldnt recomend people go just mix whatever they want, ive been doing freshwater for years, alot of unfortunate trial and error for what is too agressive and whats too boring.. my biggest loss was withing 1 day, i had a 9in peackock bass that ate my 9in alligator gar, the gars teath tore up the bass he regurgitated it and died, then my pike cichlid 10in tried to eat it and he got tore up and died.. and the night before my oscar tore up my arrowanna..i lost a couple hundred dollars in fish that day.. but you learn!

motor,
how tall is that stand? looks like the top of the tank is almost 6' tall. you got enough room for the lights? unless you're going with a fixture type that sits on top and can be moved for access, it's gonna be really awkward working in that tank..... especially with two sides against the walls.....just my $0.02.
other than that nice set up.

its an optical illusion, the one side is against the wall, the far side is 2 feet from the wall.. yes the top is 6feet.. and yea itll be interesting it was origionally built for the 125 which is 6 in shorter.. but the lighting isnt an issue, itll be haging from the ceiling behind the canopy and itll be on a cable system so i can raise it out of the way.. i always hated looking down on a really nice tank, so i built the stand so its eye level..

the current tank is a 220 (72x24x30) but the stand was built for a 125 (72x18x22)???? or was it a 180 (72x24x24)? a little confused:scratchch

what kind of lighting are you going with? i'm guessing not retrofit mh with pendant style reflectors..... there won't be enough height for those. fixture style mh with t5' or just all t5's then?

im using a coralife unit it has 3 mh 250w 14,000k and 4 pc36in im doing 2 50/50s and 2 attinic/fiji purple itll be hung from the ceiling inside the canopy fornt abt 6in over the water.. ill be able to raise it up to work in the tank, als ill have 2 nice size abt 8in fans behind blowing across the top of the water.. the tank is a total of 12in off the rear wall.. what do you guys think? oh and russ just got me all ne bulbs..so should be nice coloration

Very observant! What gave it away the bottles of Stoli Orange on the top shelf?!? Yes, that tank is in a bar. I have had a few drinks while looking at that tank. I wish it was a reef. Maybe one day.

The other is in a residence

lol....if the bar was in your house, it would have to be a pretty huge house.
you should make it into a reef...you already got topshelf vodka for dosing.....some for you...some for the tank....more for you.....a bit more for the tank.......hahaha
