I think his issue is he dont know what he dose.

It doesn't make a difference really, the Part 1 will raise his PH and the Part 2 may lower it briefly but not a huge swing like that. I think the Ca will only precipitate enough enough to bring the PH down a few tenths, not into the range of 6.x. I bet the probe is not calibrated or there is something else going on.

Even if he did indeed double the dose of one part, think about how big the swing must be with the proper dose if 2 parts brought the PH to 6.x. That alone might add long term stress to the tank, which speaks to the need for a daily doser to even out the dose over the entire day.

Josh, initially I suspect him of double dosing the Ca part and caused low alk thus lowering the ph. We still dont know the amount of dosage he normally dose on each part. Wonder if he even test before dosing, seemed like the only thing he knows is his ph.

true that! how ever it seems like he adjusted the PH back to normal in a very short time! any serious coral keeper knows that is a big NO NO.

Sincerely, this could be true as I was so tired that I may have been actually dosed something else altogether. I would not rule out this possibility.

The temp fix I used to raise pH was dripping the water from the tank above which has pH of 8.0, kind of like auto water change over the course of how many hours I left for meeting.

The pH of the tank having issue is now stable at range 8.0 pH, even though the coloines and frags that have TN issues continue to finish off the rest of their flesh.

Good looking ones conitnue to look good while the ones affected are more or less stabled at this stage.

Will thought over what eactly other unusual things have been done that day.

pH finally back to 8.2
and
Good looking ones continue to look good and ones looking bad continue to look bad.

need to figure a good way to release the trapped air in the drain pipes at the beginning of starting the return pump so it does not flood the frag tank. Right now, still running it with Automatic Hand Controlled On Off Water Change Mode(TM). LOL

Keith,
I am bringing more frags into this tank Friday and need room, so if you want to, come get the bad looking ones FREE. However, don't complaint if they die on you or even kill off your tank. LOL.

r u going 2 have a open garage sale this weekend?
not sure because this week is the big day for the TV thing-it's the NY Talent Contest 2009 FINAL. Many VIPs are coming, so rehearals will be quite time demanding. The dosing accident is part of the result of it.

However, if the fish are coming this week, I will still open-wanna show off couple very cute fish to friends here before they are taken away:tongue1::shhh::tongue1:

but instead of the open house, I rather wish you to go to the Contest Final.

Who are these VIPs you speak of if I may ask? I would love to meet some of these A-List buddies of yours. I'm contemplating wearing the light blue or the lavender tux..

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, but like the trooper that he is he hangs in and keeps on reefing.:sgrin:

Good for you Wingo........

so true I keep on reefing "Against all odds" and insisted on standup on my own. LOL

I am kind of lucky though, most of the major brown out, black out and such never get me bad. They usually only get my internet:irked: which is more of a suffering to me.
