Io is more than good enough.. That's all I use.. Corals don't lie..
Coralife for over 10 years
+1
cheap and great cal, alk, and mg levels.
I wouldn't pay 2x the price for salt with buffered levels. It costs pennies to raise your cal, alk, mg even potassium, iron, iodine etc....
Yes it is ok, You are only gonna be adding it during water changes so everything will get use to it in small amounts. When I set up my new tank I used ESV in it, while the smaller tank has Seachem Reef in it, I swapped everything into the new tank with no affects at all.Is it ok to switch to esv or corallife in an established tank. I use io right now but I'm looking to boost my levels without having to dose every couple of days. Trying to keep sps in my tank with leds.
ESV is by far the best salt on the market. The best staibilty in alk, calc, mag, and no phosphates. IO and even IO reef crystals have phosphates in them. I would always get an algea bloom when I did a water change. There is a huge thread about it on RC.
So let me get this right, You would rather buy cheap salt to save money and then buy everything else you need to dose it, instead of just buying a better salt? And not only that you are now adding more time and effort into your tank.I read just about the whole huge thread on RC and the conclusion was no salt contained traces of phosphate. And there is no perfect salt. Most recommend buying cheap salt and dosing. This is just what I got out of the million page thread.
