Well this was my second frag swap and I had a great time! I think something could be done about the food situation - my suggestion would be to have people manning the food room during the lunch rush. I saw several guys with three sandwiches on their plates while scarfing a slice of pizza. By the time many of us reached the food room, there was literally nothing but lettuce left. Its as simple as someone handing out 1 sandwich, 1 pizza, 1 soda & a cookie or two. If you want more, fine, but at least get back in line. My $.02...

Not sure, what happened...I did not get to swap until 1 o'clock (knowing that the food would be gone)...Wingo, Closetfishgeek and myself, did not even go to lunch room until about 1:45, not only was there 3 or 4 pizzas already available, but about 8 or 10 more pizzas were delivered later! There was plenty of pizza till way after 2 PM.

The best solution is to reduce the cost of admission and make pizza and food something people need to buy for a reasonable rate. That way you dont have to have a set time for the food and there will not be a mad rush. People can tend to get a little greedy when something is free.

I saw vendors with vegetarian pizza slices and when I was there for the 2nd act, there was just cheese a pepperoni. I would much rather pay 2- 3 bucks a slice and only have to pay like 15-20.

Yes, more pizza was brought in, but there were a lot of people waiting around an hour for it. Like I said, I saw some people take waaaay too much while others hadn't had a chance to get through the line the first time. I don't have a problem with vendors eating first and all, but with hoarders around, someone needs to "moderate" them. ;)

I agree 100%, but when someone accidentally walks in, words would suffice to let them know that its not there time, not to get physical as she did.

Jbobaloo, would you like to volunteer next time to coordinate a food cop squad? If you or any other member is SERIOUS about takinG this on and following through for the next event, please step forward and send a note to the admin. One thing I can absolutely guarantee is that none of the cohort of people that spend months and literally 14-15 hr days the weekend of the event have even 5 mins worth of time or energy to pay any attention to monitoring people's caloric intake.

I don't mean this snidely, it is just the reality of the situation.

In other words, no one is willing to give their time to keep things fair in ALL areas.

Sure - I'd be willing to help out. Any event I've ever attended - especially one on a budget - has had someone hand out the food - not just allow it to be a free-for-all... unless there wasn't a budget. If you love something, you don't mind putting your time and energy into it, right? I am not attacking anyone - only offering constructive criticism.

Jbobaloo - I will help you with the food thing, as one of the areas I'm very comfortable with is food service and keeping people happy. I am so happy to have partners in this part of the swap. It will be our piece of things, and I'll be happy to have others hop on to make the next swap run smoother than any swap ever.

In terms of mods "straight-out modding," the swap days are among the most physically and intellectually taxing days for mods and administration, believe it or not, and I think that Kathy probably just was looking out for the vendors while also frustrated at the impossibility of her task - making sure that everything runs smoothly while about 315 people all go in different directions trying to get everything they want. I hope you'll cut her a break. It was a stressful moment.

I'm sorry that you got pushed around, and I'm sorry that not everyone got food at the same time - it never feels good to be treated like a lower-class citizen than somebody else.

It will be better next time!

I'll pay someone to take pictures and post the inconsiderate people after next swap so we can all point and scold. I think that's far more productive than handing out 1 of each item. =0)
