Hi Guys
Was curious as to how long your sediment filter lasts on your RO/DI units before it needs replacing? I find I have to replace mine after every 30 to 35 gallons of RO/DI made, here is a pic of it. It's amazing the crap that is in our drinking water.

I use mine way past 35G... I still change before time because I dont wait untill my tds meter picks up any readings... I always wonder how bad does it have to get to get readings...

that depends on local water quality, for instance, my house has a TDS reads +350 ppm. so mine will deff not last as long, as some of u who live in the city who get ppms of 30-50ppm

if you have to replace it after 30 gallons or so i think it could be its time to change the membrane ...

Actually, that would not be true as the sediment filters are placed before the membrane as the sediment filters are there to be the first line of defense in cleaning the larger crud out of your water.

The membrane should be changed ony after you have changed out the sediment & carbon filters and you are still getting a TDS reading above +1.

As mentioned above, the life of the sediment cartridges depends mainly on your water supply & how much water you are making.

ive been using the same sediment filter for over a year and my TDS is still 0 coming out. It starts at about 20 going in and then drops to 0 as well.

I usually get probably 100-200 gallons of clean RO before I change it because it clogs up and the pressure drops down to like 40 psi. After replacing the prefilters, pressure returns to about 70 psi.

I like to change it frequently as it helps keep the carbon blocks from clogging up also keeps the pressure at an acceptable level. I roughly make around 175+ gallons a month.
