oh i didnt see that it was a 16g..
wattage does have to do with coloration.. the higher the wattage, the higher the par, the higher the par, the deeper in the tank full color spectrum reaches..

Not so...65k bulb will be yellow no matter how many watts it is.

how about a 150w elec. ballast 20k bulb? :) and as 150w is a little overkill for a 16g w/ mostly LPS/softies, aren't I on the right track in thinking 20k will be less intense than 14k?

ok guys lets see if i can get this straight...

this is what i plan on buying and will purchase tonite cause im about to build the hood and what the lights ready to put them in..

from hellolights.com

2 250 watt electronic/magnectic retro fit MH kit.. (dont no which is better)
the ballast is made by aro...

2 bulbs either 2 250 14k watt hamiltons or 2 250 14k watt pheonix which would be better..

i like electronic ballasts, less heat and they run the bulbs more white.
they also take us much less space and use less electricity.
